Contributing

Incase you missed it read more about PackersDatabase on our About Us Page.
By adding to our database you are making a contribution that lowers the bar for how much financial support we need. We must buy items and take our own professional photos to abide by copyright law, so everytime you add, we save!
Remember if you want to be a contributor and have questions you can chat with me 5 days a week on Discord.

Adding Items
Click here to add a new item. (This link is also on your edit profile page.)
Here's some basic information and guidelines on adding new items. I will amend these based on feedback.
Name: Should start with the word Packers, unless it's a player specific item. Names should always end with the year of manufacture.
Year: If you don't know the year select unknown. Hopefully someone with knowledge can correct later.
Category: Setting category is easy with type to search feature. Select the most specific category possible, rarely an item belongs in two categories. If the category your looking for does not exist let me know in the editors notes field and I will create it and re-categorize the item ASAP.
Manufacturer: Same as category, add the manufacturers name to the editors notes field and I will create it and re-assign the item ASAP.
Player: Same as above, add the players name to the editors notes field and I will create it and re-assign the item ASAP.
Description: If your up to it give it a shot, otherwise you can leave it for someone to write/correct later.
Editors Note: Write anything you want other Contributors to see. If you want to cite your sources or provide information about fields you've researched and thier potential leads or dead ends.
Number Made: The most elusive and yet maybe the most important field. Don't worry if you don't know it.
Other Fields: Please fill in all fields that you can find information for. Please take the time and make sure to get material, dimensions, and MSRP if you own the item.
Images: Ideally images should be a miniumum of 1000x1000 pixels and be centered with a white background. If you can't take professional quality images try to atleast get the item on a solid background. I will touch up all images as best I can.
Missing Information: It's ok if you don't have all the information, just adding the item makes it a lot easier for us to find someone who knows the information.
Editing Items
Here's some basic information and guidelines on editing items. I will amend these based on feedback.
Descriptions: I am not a talented writer and don't have the time to research individual memorabilia. So currently there are nearly 3000 items without descriptions. Just research and do your best.
Editors Note: Write anything you want other Contributors to see. If you want to cite your sources or provide information about fields you've researched and thier potential leads or dead ends.
Year: The seed for our database was donated to us and many of the items have the incorrect year, either 2012 or 2013. If your very knowledgeable and can correct these you will be a hero.
Category: Select the most specific category possible, rarely an item belongs in two categories. Please add to the editors notes what you changed it from and what you changed it to.
Manufacturer: There are over 100 items in the database with a manufacturer of Unknown. Correct them if you can! Unless it was unknown please add to the editors notes what you changed it from and what you changed it to.
Number Made: This field will be blank for nearly all items until we gain critical mass and industry support. If you have industry contacts or the people skills to ferry out these numbers you will be a true hero.
Images: If you can improve the image do so!
Missing Information: It's ok if you don't have all the information, just adding some information makes it a lot easier for us to find someone who knows the rest.
How do I know what needs editing?
Read the above section so I dont have to repeat myself and check out the following information and links to quickly find items that may need correcting.
Descriptions: Quality over quantity. View items missing descriptions (2975)
Department: Most of these will probably need to be set to Not Applicable. View items missing departments (1857)
Country of Origin: May not seem like important data to save and record but who knows what it will mean in 1000 years. View items missing COA (2952)
Identifiying Items
Instead of adding items you own or editing existing items you can identify items missing from the database. Generally these would be new memorabilia that has just been listed for sale on a merchants website. Identifying these items will help other contributors by letting them know what needs to be worked on, what can be added to the database, and what can be purchased to help further our mission.
Basics: To help other contributors decide what to purchase or work on at a miniumum you must fill out name, year, department, and a url where this item is available. The form for identifying items is the same as adding or editing items. You can fill in as many fields as you want and leave the rest to other contributors, the main point of the identifier is to get the item identified.
Claiming: If you intend to purchase an identified item in order to take photos of it for the database you can claim it. Claiming an identified item just lets everyone know your intent and dissuades others from also purchasing the item.
Top Contributor: You get points for identifying an item but also the contributor who fills in the most fields will be awarded the points for creating an item when it is converted.
Non-memorabilia contribution options.
Category Descriptions: There are 450 categories without descriptions for thier page headers. These should hopefully help us with SEO. I am not a skilled writer so I'll leave these open to anyone who wants to tackle them. Check out Wall Decorations for a basic example. Go to any category page Full List Here and add /edit to the end of the url.
Manufacturer Descriptions: There are 145 manufacturers without descriptions for thier page headers. I am not a skilled writer so I'll leave these open to anyone who wants to tackle them. Go to any manufacturer page Full List Here and add /edit to the end of the url.
